NOTD -- Or Weekend!

S
ince the weather has FINALLY changed here in sunny Arizona, I have been ready to start wearing fall colors on my nails. So after work on friday, I headed over to Ulta and picked up a few new colors. Friday evening I put on "Power Clutch". I am really LOVING this color!! Its a dark gray green! Very pretty. I have since been seeing this color all over the blogs and Pinterest. LOve LOve LOve

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I did lots of stuff! Decorated a pumpkin for a contest at work, and "She" turned out so Diva Like. I will definitely be blogging about her soon! Today, I made some homemade meatballs and sauce! Busy fun weekend for me!! Hope everyone has a great upcoming week!!

Zoya

Have you tried Zoya polish??? Well I got some awhile back. Probably in the winter, but I hadnt used any of them yet. So last week I was tired of all my regular rotational products and decided to dig out some of my other colors. I found all my Zoya colors I had. I chose "Raven" to try. It lasted less than 24 hours and totally peeled off. So my review on Zoya is, Its NOT for me :( Sucks bc I have about 6 colors but I dont think I will be using it again. Bummer. The next day I used Essie, Licorice and its been over 48hours and no chips. So It has to be the Zoya formula and my nails dont mesh. Here is a before and after picture of my nails.

Happy Sunday, Frappe, and Nail Polish of the Week!

Happy Sunday to all my blog friends, all 39 of you! Hopefully I will make it to 50 soon but Im just really not feeling it. Today, Eli and I was up and at em early bc it has been sooo hot here in the sunny sunny phoenix, Az. I wanted to beat the heat for a nice long walk, and that is what we did. I listened to some tunes on
siriusxm on the iphone app. If you have a subscription, and didnt know it, its a free app and you should definitely take advantage of it! Works on iphone and ipad and I believe other smart phones as well. After our walk, it is routine on sunday, Eli and I go for a starbucks run. But today there is a place on the corner that had a coupon in the paper for a free beverage so we went to the corner to B.L.D. and got a free 20 oz. beverage. The barista recommended a frappe vanilla caramel, and so yummy! I will definitely go back and try their smoothies and maybe the vanilla iced coffee. Its an actual restaurant, B.L.D. With a drive thru for drinks only, kinda a cool concept. However I wish they sold pasteries or bagels, or even a breakfast sandwich thru the drive thru!

.

O and did I mention, that I am loving this pretty blue nail polish. I have re-done my nails in the color a few times now :) It is Essie Mesmerize...........

Well the pictures are not that great, its pics with my iphone so this is the best I got. It is definitely not as dull as it apears in the pic. Its not super dark but not really bright either. Its a perfect blue :)

One more thing, before I run. I had a hair appt yesterday and on my way, I wanted an ice cold refreshing beverage so I pulled into starbucks and tried one of the new Very Berry Hibiscus drinks, D~E~L~I~S~H, recommend you try it for sure. Apparently it is made from coffee beans, it is not tea but is a fruity drink with caffeine.

Hope you are having a fantastic Sunday!

End of Week Pics

I
thought I'd share a few iphone pics with you guys! I didn't do too much this weekend. But to me, thats ok. I love hanging out at home with my "Lovey" and Mr Eli FLuffy! It was a chill weekend in the A/C avoiding the HOT HOT HOT AZ weather.

First up, A few cute pics of my little doggie, a.k.a Mr Eli Fluffy ...............

Next, A few pics of my weekend fashion. I watched a YT video on a very fun curly hair style. I wanted my hair to do the same but, #fail. Bc I did not have the right size curling iron so I used what I had and this is what I got. Along with some pretty Essie blue nails. And lastly, my wrist bling, Dillon Rogers leather wrap, Michael Kors watch, and a silver heart "L" bracelet from my parents..............

This week we had a unique storm called a Haboob.
The following was copied from WIkipedia:
A haboob is a type of intense sandstorm commonly observed in arid regions throughout the world. In the USA, they are frequently observed in the deserts of Arizona, including Yuma and Phoenix,[2][3] as well as New Mexico and Texas.[4] During thunderstorm formation, winds move in a direction opposite to the storm's travel, and they will move from all directions into the thunderstorm. When the storm collapses and begins to release precipitation, wind directions reverse, gusting outward from the storm and generally gusting the strongest in the direction of the storm's travel.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

A Few of My Current Favorite Things!!

Like many of us, I get on "kicks" of things I am loving. So here are a few of my current loves.

1.
Butter London Nail polish. They have fantastic colors. Of course I still love OPI and Essie but when Butter London came to Ulta, I had to try it. And well, I am loving it.

2. Starbucks, Ive been loving the Caramel Frappe, and Iced Vanilla Chai. I really wish they could produce the caramel macchiato in frappe, OMG, Id die :) But I plan on trying The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf this weekend. Because, Kate @ Every Mile U Memory has spokes so highly of them. Update to follow after I try it.

3. Salads, Random I know but I've been eating lots of salads. Of course not the healthy kind but the yummy and unfortunately unhealthy kind. But hey, Im still getting my greens in, right? :) A local chain pizza place makes a Buffalo Chicken Ceasar Salad, and Im so addicted to this. Where and What is your favorite salad?
4. My new Lady GaGa CD. I know its mixed feeling out there but I will ALWAYS love Lady GaGa!

5. My pandora bracelet! Aaron bought me a new charm at Mall of America last week. My bracelet is almost full! Maybe room for a very skinny charm, LOL! Like always, there was a little pandora catalog in my bag and I am so loving this brown leather/gold bracelet that I found in the little book. I have a silver leather one, I may try to do something similiar with it.

7. Love, Love, Love my new Nike Air Max, and I designed a pair on Nike ID I really want.

That's it for now my friends! Happy Sunday!

One of My Favorite Colors

So I have been giving my nails a break from polish for about 2 weeks now. They have had nothing on them, NODDA! I was polishing them so often and there came a point where within 8 hours of polishing, the color would peel off in on piece. Not sure why?? I have tried a million and one different ways, and products. Most recently I was using the Orly Bonder, Followed by 2 coats of my polish color of choice and Seche Vite top coat! Why would it work perfect for weeks and suddenly start to peel? Maybe the nail bed was too dry? I have no idea! Well during the rest period, my cuticles were so dry and peely. And I have been using the Burts Bee's lemon cuticle cream, solar oil, and even tried the Rose Salve. Ugggg!

Well tonight my friends, I polished my nails with one of my fave go to colors, Essie Splash of Grenadine! I love love love this color. Sometimes when I use this color, when it starts to chip/peel, I take it off and put this same color right back on! Also, I'm hoping it will last a few days with no peeling. And it will also help my cuticles. It seems my cuticles are better when my nails are polished!

Happy Friday!

Surgery and Recovery

(Recovering on the patio in style, lol)

Recently, I had surgery for what I hope is the answer to many years of stomach problems. I thought Id share this encase someone that has been through some of the same things as me runs across my blog, maybe it will help another. I have had stomach problems for approximately 2 plus years. I did not have any official testing as my insurance plan had a high deductible. Well at the beginning of this year, 2011, I decided that I was tired of all the pain and problems. I had recently, since november maybe, had 2 episodes of severe pain in the middle of the night. Severe enough that my boyfriend really wanted me to go to the ER. Well I didn't really want to go, being in the healthcare field knowing what would happen in the ER. I just didn't think it was necessary. Well in about 1 hour with each episode, the pain passed. So in January, I decided to see a Gastro Doc. He ordered some basic test, ultrasound to check liver, gallbladder and pancreas, some blood work to check for infection, celiac and I don't know what else and scheduled me for an endoscopy on an upcoming saturday. I had the blood work done that day and the ultrasound a few days later. A few days following, I had a recurrent severe pain episode, again in the middle of the night, but this time with 3 hours of severe pain. Again the boy friend tried to get me to go to the ER but refused saying it would just increase our medical bills and they would do a bunch of unnecessary tests that I just had last week.I missed work the following day and called the GI doc 1st thing. The nurse insisted I make a follow up appt the following day to discuss the ultrasound results before proceeding with the endoscopy that was scheduled for the upcoming saturday. When I saw the doc, he said the ultrasound showed gallstones and this could be the answer to my problems. I think I forgot to mention before I ever decided to go to the GI doc, I was previously diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and reflux disease both by a primary care physician. With the results of the stones, the GI doc recommended an additional nuclear medicine test, a HIDA scan, that shows how well your gallbladder is functioning. The test came back at 30%, 35% -75% is normal. I was then scheduled to see a surgeon to discuss the possibility of having my gallbladder removed. The visit with the surgeon was short and to the point. "You need your gallbladder out" I said ok, lets do you like yesterday. So I was got scheduled the following tuesday. The surgery would be outpatient and I would be ok in a few days, well so I was told.
Today I am 5 days postop and am feeling optimistic. The 1st few days did not go as smooth as I expected. But that is behind us now and I wont go into all the stressful details. I will say that I have had lots of support and prayers from my boyfriend, family, and friends. And I even had a wonderful surprise visit from a very good friend (that lives in New York) sister (that lives here). She dropped off a wonderful get well gift. :) She really made my day bc the day she came I was not doing well and not feeling happy. She brought me the cutest little gift bag (with a cute bow handle and pink tissue paper of course) filled with wonderful girlie stuff to help with a speedy recovery. The bag had, gossip magazine, 2 fun nail colors (a green for the toes and a plum for the fingers) some adorable little hello kitty nail files, and Eat, Love and Pray DVD. And a sweet card with get well wishes of course. Its amazing what a small get well package can do for a girl in the dumps. Thanks a million to Laura and Lisa! You girls are the bestest ever! So I am on the down hill now. I am still hoping the surgery answers all my stomach problems. If not, I am still not disappointed I had the surgery bc at nothing I wont ever wake up with the severe night pains. And from what I understand, if you have a bad gallbladder, its better to take it out on your time and schedule instead of its time and schedule bc it can lead you to the ER with an emergency surgery which no one wants. It can also cause/lead to more severe problems including pancreatitis which NO ONE wants. I have 2 friends that has had it and it is NO FUN at all. So that is my surgery story that I though Id share and here is a cute pic of my get well bag.
